Be my Valentine - the story of t(rue)wo lovers

As a way of proposing
He kneeled before me
- gave me roses
And asked will I be his valentine?

I still remember the number
It was three
White, yellow and red
I had to choose
But one
I chose red
because my lips too were red
and they made a good match

He asked if he can kiss me
I kissed the rose
And gave it to him
Then we got married

10 years later
The tradition continued
He gave me roses
White, yellow and red
We now are married
And as every couple
We had our differences and rifts
My lips were still red
But now my lips did not look for a match
I thought it's high time
That we forget our differences
As a sign of reconciling
I chose white
He said thanks

Another 10 years rolled
The tradition did not change
He gave me roses
White, yellow and red
There were no differences between us
My friends say he has got all my good qualities
And his mother say I am more like him
I had no other option but to let go white
We are now thick as friends
I thought there is no need for me to go for yellow
But I took the roses red and yellow
And gave the yellow back to him
It I thought would match his shirt and he took it with glee

After 20 years
He bowed before me for the first time
And said "be my valentine"
My lips are not as red as they were
But I kissed the rose
And said "be my valentine"
